Tokyo Brings Together 19 Monets for the Artist’s Centenary

The National Museum of Western Art is showing paintings and rarely seen drawings together.

Tokyo’s National Museum of Western Art is marking the centenary of Claude Monet’s death in 1926 by bringing together 19 works from its holdings and deposits from 22 July to 23 September 2026. The display includes drawings rarely shown for conservation reasons and a painting newly deposited in 2025. It also highlights the Matsukata Collection’s connection with Monet, which reaches back to 1921.
