The Louvre Prepares a Major International Zurbarán Retrospective

A collaboration among the National Gallery, the Louvre, and the Art Institute of Chicago brings the Spanish master’s paintings to Paris.

The Louvre will present a major retrospective devoted to Francisco de Zurbarán in the Hall Napoléon from October 7, 2026, through January 25, 2027. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the National Gallery, London, and the Art Institute of Chicago.nnThe project will reconsider Zurbarán’s development from the intense naturalism of his early monastic subjects to his celebrated command of color. According to the Louvre, it is the first large-scale international presentation dedicated to the artist since the joint Met and Grand Palais exhibition of 1987–88.
