Liu Wei’s Four New Sculptures Are Coming to The Met Facade

The Metropolitan Museum of Art will present four new sculptures by Beijing-based artist Liu Wei on its historic Fifth Avenue facade. The Genesis Facade Commission: Liu Wei, Speculation opens on September 17, 2026, and will remain on view through June 8, 2027.nnThe project, Liu’s first major presentation in the United States, considers cycles of rupture and mending through the recurring motif of the human hand. Made with varied materials, the works will create a new dialogue between contemporary sculpture and the museum’s classical facade niches.
