As Sofonisba Anguissola gained her place in art history, her painting sisters remained largely invisible. A new reassessment brings together portraits and drawings by Elena, Lucia, Europa and Anna Maria, moving beyond the story of a single ‘exceptional woman’. It allows us to see the Renaissance workshop as a network of family, education and shared labour—and to explain women’s disappearance through archives and attribution rather than lack of talent.
